The best quality ones are durable too, which makes it as a great investment. But, for them to stay longer, they need maintenance too. So, how do you clean up your furniture?
Wood is the strongest one, but at the same time needs proper caring, else it would fail miserably. Metal too needs proper caring else it would become a scrap. Do you know how to clean them safe, and make them look fresh, clean and stay longer too? in case you already know, then we are happy! If not, don’t worry, we are here with some tips on cleaning your furniture and keeping them for long.
Basic task- Dusting:
Furniture needs dusting regularly. Frequent dusting helps in removing airborne dust, that might get accumulated over time, a filmy layer and leads to scratch. Cleaning or dusting with dry and soft clean cloth or even feather dusters would be great. Heres another tip, that needs to be followed. Dampen the cloth or any cleaner you use slightly, just to avoid the dirt and dust falling back in the same place again, or moving to a different part. Don’t overdo, as it might lead to water sinking in slightly and reducing the durability.
Treated micro fibre clothes: silicon sprays are not for wooden furniture. Hence avoid them. replace it with soft, treated microfiber cloth, which absorbs the dust and are not scratchy too.
Classic feather duster: when working with fragile furniture like a lampshade, a mirror glass, we urge you to use a light feather duster that removes dust without causing any damage to the furniture.
You can try ostrich feather, which is light and good for cleaning purposes. Feathers are a great cleaning agent that never leaves any scratch behind.
Soft cloth: clean cotton t-shirts or even vests material clothes can be used, as they are soft and easy to clean with. As said, dampen them slightly and wipe off the dust, in no time they will clean.
Lambs wool duster: these dusters contain lanolin which attracts dust and makes it cling to it. They are very good in cleaning the curvy areas of any furniture, carved areas, which are usually difficult to reach. With just a long handle you can reach to any unreachable area too.
Basic cleaning towel, terry towel: they are the simplest one you can find everywhere. Dampen them slightly and wipe off. They don’t last long and needs little care.
Some do’s and don’ts for your furniture:
Never ever use any cleaning sprays on wooden surfaces. If your furniture has a plastic coating, then you may use mildly following the instructions.
Then clean it again with a clean and dry cloth. Avoid polishing your furniture with loaded oils, especially olive oil as it attracts more dust. Furniture oils, oil polishers make the surface more slippery and don’t offer any protective hard layer, as you may think.
Deep cleaning for your furniture:
The first step in cleaning is with a dampened cloth and dry cloth Apply clear paste wax on surfaces where there are spills and marks.
Tips to apply wax:
Fold wax in a clean cotton cloth and make it a ball Knead the ball well, and keep scrubbing on the surface that needs waxing When you find the surface dulling, wipe off excess wax. Repeat the process, until you find a clean and shiny surface; keep removing the excess wax during the process.
